Registered Nurse (RN) - Day Shift

The Registered Nurse (RN) maintains the delivery of quality care by ensuring the nursing care plan is followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees.

Responsibilities

• Perform a nursing assessment on all patients within 8 hours of admission, forming the basis of an individualized care plan.
• Identify teaching needs and goals related to patient diagnoses through collaboration with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
• Provide timely patient information and status updates for Initial Team Conferences and weekly Re-evaluation Team Conferences.
• Ensure accurate, succinct, and timely documentation of all assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the medical record.
• Participate in patient rehabilitation programs and utilize the nursing process for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care.
• Initiate discharge planning on admission and begin patient teaching in anticipation of discharge.
• Communicate changes in patient status among care providers for continuity of care and patient safety.
• Provide direction, training, and supervision to ancillary nursing personnel while effectively delegating tasks.
• Maintain personal and environmental safety according to hospital policies and procedures.
• Contribute positively to unit functioning by providing calm direction and reassurance to staff, patients, and families.
• Communicate service needs to managers and senior staff regarding necessary supplies, equipment, and clinical training.
• Assume charge responsibility as requested following the completion of orientation.
• Pursue professional development through continuing education and self-study.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• BLS Certification required prior to first shift.
• ACLS certification required prior to first shift (CIRH only).
• Minimum of two (2) years of bedside clinical experience is highly desired.

Schedule

This position is for a day shift working 3x12 hour shifts.
