Play an essential role in supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing by leveraging your specialized skills in an engaging educational setting. This contract opportunity calls for a passionate educator eager to make a meaningful impact on students’ academic and personal growth.
You’ll collaborate closely with faculty, families, and support staff to create accessible learning experiences, fostering both communication and confidence in each student. Your expertise will help shape a more inclusive, empowering school environment.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid certification or teaching credential in Deaf/Hard of Hearing Education
- Proficiency in sign language (ASL or another system) and other communication strategies for students with hearing loss
- Experience designing and adapting curriculum to meet individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Strong communication and advocacy skills to connect with students, families, and interdisciplinary teams
- Commitment to culturally responsive teaching and promoting equity in education
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students, aligned with state standards and IEPs
- Assess student abilities, monitor progress, and adjust instruction as needed
- Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, and related service providers to support student integration
- Provide guidance and training to school staff on communication techniques and accommodations
- Partner with families to build consistent strategies between home and school
