At American Family Care, our Part-Time Medical Receptionists keep our urgent care centers running smoothly. As our front desk receptionist, your precision with insurance verification directly impacts both patient experience AND our clinic's financial health. Your ability to accurately verify coverage, explain costs clearly to patients, and ensure clean claims will be your most valuable contribution. What You'll Actually Do Master Insurance Verification: Meticulously verify coverage BEFORE services are provided, prevent claim denials, and maximize revenue capture Excel at Financial Counseling: Confidently explain costs, billing processes, and insurance complexities to patients in a way they understand Solve Billing Problems: Proactively identify and resolve insurance discrepancies and billing issues before they impact revenue Drive Patient Satisfaction: Deliver exceptional service even during difficult financial conversations - keeping patients happy while handling payment matters Be the Face of AFC: Greet patients with the warmth and professionalism that makes AFC stand out in healthcare Own the Front Desk Flow: Process payments, schedule appointments, and manage patient check-ins with lightning efficiency Protect Patient Information: Maintain organized records while strictly following HIPAA regulations This Role is Perfect for You If: You have experience with insurance verification and medical billing (non-negotiable!). You can explain complex insurance concepts to frustrated patients with empathy and clarity. You're obsessively detail-oriented – a single digit error in an insurance ID can cost thousands. You've worked as a Medical Receptionist , Administrative Assistant , or in any Customer Service role in a medical office setting. You're tech-savvy with medical billing software and EMR systems. You have excellent problem-solving skills and can find billing solutions that work for both patients and the clinic. You maintain a positive attitude even when dealing with challenging financial conversations. The Details: Schedule: Part-Time with flexible shifts (some weekends) Requirements : High school diploma preferred; X-Ray Tech, Medical Assistant or related certification is a plus Active BLS certification required or must be obtained within defined onboarding period.
