Maintenance Supervisor - 3rd Shift

About the Role As a 3rd Shift Maintenance Supervisor at Wheatland Tube, a division of Zekelman Industries, you will oversee the maintenance team and ensure the reliability, efficiency, and safety of all plant equipment. Reporting to the Department Manager, this hands‑on role is responsible for coordinating preventive maintenance programs, troubleshooting machinery issues, and leading a team of skilled maintenance technicians to support safe and efficient plant operations. This role is onsite and located in Rochelle, IL. What You’ll Do Supervise, train, and mentor maintenance technicians to ensure efficient daily operations. Oversee and participate in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining plant machinery, including mills, welders, cutting systems, and material handling equipment. Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to reduce downtime and improve equipment longevity. Enforce safety protocols and regulatory compliance, ensuring OSHA and Company policies are followed. Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns and production disruptions, coordinating emergency repairs as needed. Monitor spare parts inventory and coordinate procurement of necessary components. Identify and implement improvements to enhance reliability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness of maintenance processes. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment history, and compliance documentation. Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to support seamless operations and continuous improvement initiatives. Perform other duties as assigned. Lead and promote healthy and safe work practices as required by regulatory agencies and Company policy. Who You Are 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in steel manufacturing or heavy industry. 2+ years of supervisory experience leading a maintenance team. Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems; welding and fabrication experience a plus. Associate degree or technical certification in industrial maintenance, mechanical engineering, or a related field; equivalent work experience considered. Proven ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues and implement effective solutions. Familiarity with CMMS systems and Microsoft Office.
