Job Description Physical Therapist – Independent licensed practitioner responsible for evaluating, treating, and rehabilitating neuromusculoskeletal conditions to maximize functional readiness and performance across training, recovery, and return‑to‑duty pathways. Position Details Type: Regular Clearance Required: Must currently possess Top Secret; must be able to obtain Top Secret/SCI. Travel: Less than 10% Telecommuting: Onsite only Locations: MacDill AFB, FL; Monterey, CA; Eglin AFB, FL (OCONUS & CONUS sites) Salary Range: $111,155 - $150,385 (attributable to experience, location and contractual requirements). Responsibilities Provides comprehensive evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of neuromusculoskeletal conditions. Functions as direct access care provider, evaluating and treating clients without referral. Utilizes proactive injury mitigation strategies, encompassing risk factor identification, targeted interventions, and development of unit‑specific programs. Practices within the defined scope of practice for Physical Therapy, adhering to state licensing board regulations and professional standards (e.g., APTA). May refer clients to other POTFF staff members and medical providers as needed. Actively participates in the development and implementation of programs designed to optimize physical readiness and minimize musculoskeletal injury. Provides neuromusculoskeletal injury care, utilizing clinical privileges as documented and approved by credentialing and privileging authority. Provides post‑operative evaluation and rehabilitative care; develops rehabilitative plans according to clinical practice guidelines and evidence‑based medicine. Provides direct clinical supervision to PT Tech and PT Assistant within their scope of practice. Participates in periodic meetings with POTFF and other staff to review care provided to clients and identify opportunities for process improvement. Serves as an advisor to the unit POTFF or Physical Domain Manager/Coordinator and Command Leadership on Sports Medicine, injury mitigation, rehabilitation, and related human performance research. Advises unit POTFF, Medical and/or Command Leadership on administrative matters, purchasing supplies and equipment, and supplemental fiscal requests. Participates in required medical and clinical quality management, quality assurance and client safety procedures. Assists in developing and updating job descriptions, performance standards, and clinical practice guidelines to ensure consistency across Human Performance Training Centers. Submits fiscal and resource input to POTFF, Medical and/or Command leadership. Develops and promulgates training materials as requested by POTFF, Medical or Command leadership. Participates in periodic in‑service training for members of the Physical Domain, POTFF staff, and medical staff. Qualifications Master’s degree (doctoral degree preferred) in physical therapy from a CAPTE accredited institution. Certification through the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) as either Orthopedic Certified Specialist (OCS) or Sports Certified Specialist (SCS), or certification through the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) as an Athletic Trainer Certified (ATC) is required. Minimum of five (5) years of demonstrable experience as a Physical Therapist with individual athletes and groups at NCAA Collegiate Division I, Olympic, professional sports, USAF CRAFT, USAF SWTW, and/or SOF Operators. Experience in manual therapy, dry needling, and joint manipulation is strongly recommended. Fellowship‑trained physical therapists in Sports, Orthopedics, and Manual Therapy will also be considered and do not need to meet the board certification requirement. Ability to obtain or maintain current Top Secret clearance.
