Job Description:\n\nDescription:Work Days: Wednesday thru Sunday / Days off- Mon & TuesWork Hours: 2 pm to 10 pmWork Location: 1115 Mission Rd., San Antonio, TX 78210\n\nMission: Seton Home works to break the cycle of abuse and poverty by providing a caring home, education, and support services necessary to transform the lives of pregnant and parenting teen mothers and their children.\nSummary:\nAll Youth Care Workers may be required to work different shifts in order to meet program needs. Below is a basic description of the general tasks required to be completed throughout the day. The below tasks are only a general outline and other job duties will be assigned in order to meet program needs.\nMinimum of 1-year employment experience in the child welfare field working with children and/or adolescents in a social service setting. \nPosition Responsibilities:\nShift Specific Expectation & Responsibilities\nMorning Routine\n\n *Supervise any residents unable to attend school, interact and engage in activities with residents and children. \n *Computer related tasks: Document daily logs and incident reports using the internal database, ensure important information is included.\n *Provide care and engage in age appropriate activities for children unable to go to daycare. \n *Ensure cottages are clean, fully stocked and organized during shift.\n *Supervise and log all domestic and international calls for residents as needed.\n Facilitate physical activity and leisure activity as needed.\n Help wake residents and supervise morning routine. \n Supervise morning chores (spray cleaning products for residents) and room checks. \n Prepare and serve breakfast and assist residents during breakfast clean up.\n Process medications from pharmacy using the internal database. \n Dispense medications on weekends, holidays and as needed. \n Completing shelter intake process with new arrivals as needed.\n Completing shelter discharge process with residents as needed.\n Assisting with transporting residents to and from medical appointments, outings, etc. as needed.\n Assisting with the Point of Contact role as needed.\n Supervise and assist residents with schoolwork while at school in the classroom with assigned schoolwork. \n Cook and serve lunch to residents and their children during weekends, holidays and as needed. \n End of shift duties: Clean staff restroom, take out all trash, and do last walk through of cottage to ensure cleanliness.\n\nAfternoon/Evening Routine\n\n *Supervise and log all domestic and international calls for residents.\n *Care for children while residents attend groups and as needed.\n *Supervise and monitor interactions between the residents to ensure a safe environment.\n *Plan, supervise, and participate in recreational and/or physical activities as scheduled.\n *Computer related tasks: Document daily logs and incident reports using the internal database, ensure important information is included.\n *Process medications from pharmacy using the internal database. \n Dispense medications on weekends, holidays and as needed. \n Assisting with transporting residents to and from medical appointments, outings, etc. as needed.\n Supervise evening chores (spray cleaning products for residents) and room checks. \n *Cook and supervise residents with dinner preparation and clean up during weekends, holidays and as needed.\n Provide evening snacks on daily basis.\n Completing shelter intake process with new arrivals as needed.\n Completing shelter discharge process with residents as needed.\n Assisting with transporting residents to and from medical appointments, outings, etc. as needed.\n Assisting with the Point of Contact role as needed.\n End of shift duties: Clean staff restroom, take out all trash, and do last walk through of cottage to ensure cleanliness\n\nOvernight Routine\n\n *Conduct hourly bed checks throughout the night to ensure safety of residents.\n *Providing care for infants when residents ask for assistance.\n *Complete daily medication audit and email to appropriate personnel.\n *Computer related tasks: Document daily logs and incident reports using the internal database, ensure important information is included.\n *Clean and make ready vacant rooms. \n *Prepare breakfast for residents on a daily basis.\n Completing shelter intake process with new arrivals as needed.\n Assisting with transporting residents to the hospital as needed.\n Ensuring that residents who are scheduled to discharge from the program are ready by the designated time.\n Check refrigerators/pantry for expired food items. \n *Prepare breakfast for residents on a daily basis.\n *Prepare logs, needs requests, inventory, and resident binders. \n Complete end of month duties, which include preparing shelter paperwork and medical binders. \n Process and dispense any medications. \n Update medication binders as new intakes arrive. \n Assisting with the Point of Contact role as needed.\n File needs requests and log in appropriate folder on s/drive; file hardcopy in residents’ binder. \n End of shift duties: Clean staff restroom, take out all trash, and do last walk through of cottage to ensure cleanliness\n\nAdditional Duties\n\n Must complete all required professional development assigned in a timely manner\n Must be sensitive to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.\n Adhering to safety training and protocols on a daily basis, and taking precautionary measure to ensure the safety and well-being of self, others. \n Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service with the organization to include but not limited to client names and information, services rendered to clients, donors names and gifts, internal and external investigations or results of any investigations, and financial information.\n Adherence to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral Policy is mandatory.\n Every employee is required to take a solution-oriented approach in their interactions and undertakings, as well as being a team member that promotes collaboration and commitment to the Mission and Vision of the organization.\n As a Seton Home employee, attendance and successful completion of a 10-day New Employee Orientation is mandated for the position. The inability to meet this requirement will conclude employment with the Agency.\n Other duties as assigned.\n\nAt Seton Home’s sole discretion, and with or without notice, Seton Home may require employees to alter their work schedules to fulfill job responsibilities or handle work situations of an emergency nature. Likewise, at Seton Home’s sole discretion, and with written approval of the Department Head of Human Resources and Executive Director, employees may arrange an alternate or flexible work schedule, provided Seton Home needs can be fully met under such an arrangement.\n\nCompetencies -\n Competency Description\n Managing Change Ability to be flexible during changing conditions while maintaining commitment to \n excellence in an effort to meet team objectives.\nCommunication Ability to effectively share information and ideas of various degree of difficulty and \n sensitivity through different means of communication and to diverse audiences. (Verbal \n and/or written)\nDe-escalation Ability to sense a potential or occurring crisis or volatile situation and engage in a manner \n that reduces the intensity or conflict.\nInterpersonal Awareness Ability to demonstrate emotional intelligence in various settings and with a diverse \n population.\nTeamwork Ability to listen and respond constructively with others fostering collaboration and team \n success.Requirements:\n Minimum Qualifications: \n\n Education \n \n Minimum High School Diploma or Equivalent; \n Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred;\n \n Experience \n \n Minimum of 1-year employment experience in the child welfare field working with children and/or adolescents in a social service setting; \n \n License and Credentials \n \n Reliable transportation;\n Valid driver license;\n Valid vehicle insurance;\n \n Must provide immunization/shot records;\n Submit to a state and federal background check, Child abuse and neglect registry check, and Tuberculosis screening;\n Be physically, mentally, and emotionally capable of performing assigned tasks and have the skills necessary to perform essential duties and responsibilities\n\nAble to show proof of immunity to vaccine-preventable diseases transmitted by the respiratory route if working directly with unaccompanied children;\n\n Varicella: two doses of varicella vaccine (at least 4 weeks apart) OR born in the United States before 1980 with a reported history of chickenpox (verified by an adult present at the time of illness) OR titers indicating varicella immunity OR documentation from healthcare provider verifying previous infection.\n MMR: two doses of MMR vaccine (at least 4 weeks apart) OR titers indicating immunity to all three diseases\n DTaP or Tdap: Complete primary vaccination series.
