Construction WorkerGeneral Purpose: To construct and repair buildings and structures under the instruction of the site Superintendent.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Install and repair components such as framing, doors, windows, ceilings, drywall, flooring, cabinets, etc.Complete finish work such as trim and paintConstruct or repair sites using the correct materials according to blueprints, specifications, drawings, and/or verbal instructionsDemolition and site preparation prior to renovationProperly transport and dispose of all trash and debrisFollow all OSHA and safety guidelinesKnowledge of tools and equipment such as hammers, utility knife, wrench, saws, drills, ladders, scaffolding, etc. and how to properly use themConstructing chutes for concrete delivery, and disassembly forms after concrete is setFrame structures using metal and/or wood building materials, lumber, or studsInstall blocking and structural bracing/supports per blueprints or plansRead blueprints and accurately transferring layouts to ensure construction is correctApply joint compound/tape to seams and finish smooth when working with drywallSand drywall in preparation for prime and paintEnsure correct layout and placement of diffusers, lights, sprinkler heads, etc. after installing acoustical grid ceilings and tilesCheck doors, window frames, and cabinetry are level and plumbHang door slabs and install hardwarePrepare substrate install VCT, carpet, sheet vinyl, etc. when working with flooringFabricate and seal dust barriers to contain dust and debris. Place necessary air filtration devices to meet requirements in the work areaEnsure items such as sticky mats and shoe covers are in place to prevent contamination of surrounding areasSupervisory Responsibilities: This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.Education and/or Experience: This position requires GED/high school education; or up to 6 months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Language Skills: This position requires the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.Mathematical Skills: This position requires the ability to add, subtract, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.Reasoning Ability: This position requires the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. This position sometimes requires working in high, precarious places, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and vibration. This position frequently requires working near moving mechanical parts.
