We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project/Environmental Engineer to join our growing construction team. This role supports project execution by coordinating engineering activities, ensuring environmental compliance, and working closely with project managers, field teams, and clients to deliver high-quality projects safely, on time, and within budget. If you thrive in a fast-paced construction environment and are passionate about solving challenges while maintaining environmental stewardship, we'd love to hear from you.ResponsibilitiesOversee Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP) and National Pollutant Prevention Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permits, ensuring compliance with water quality regulations.Conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with SWPPP requirements and project BMPs.Implement and maintain storm water pollution prevention measures on active construction projects.Coordinate with project management and field operations regarding erosion control, sediment control, tracking control, and water pollution prevention requirements.Strong technical writing and communication skills, with the ability to prepare high quality permit applications, storm water compliance documentation, inspection reports, rain event action plans, and BMP maintenance logs.Perform required uploads and reporting in the California SMARTS system.Coordinate with subcontractors and field personnel to correct non-compliant conditions.Assist with preparation and implementation of Water Pollution Control Plans and SWPPPs.Support regulatory inspections and respond to corrective action items.Monitor dewatering, concrete washout, material storage, and other construction activities for permit compliance.Sampling and Analysis as needed.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.Ability to navigate complex permitting processes and work effectively with stakeholders from various agencies and organizations.QualificationsCurrent California QSP (Qualified SWPPP Practitioner) certification required.3+ years of experience in construction storm water compliance, preferably on heavy civil, pipeline, grading, or public works projects.Knowledge of California Construction General Permit requirements and BMP implementation.Experience with SMARTS reporting and storm water documentation.Ability to read construction plans and specifications.Strong communication and documentation skills.Valid California driver license.Preferred QualificationsExperience on public works or heavy civil construction projects.QSD certification preferred but not required.Experience with dewatering compliance and water discharge permits preferred.Not Required but a PLUS:PE licenseAdvanced engineering degreesTo learn more about OHLA USA, visit our website The base salary rate being offered for this position is USD $85,000.00 per year to USD $95,000.00 per year. Please note that the salary range listed is specific to the role listed in California.
