Job Overview for Material Handler

The Lee Group is looking for a Material Handler to work with one of our valued clients in Virginia Beach, VA. In this role, you will help keep production running smoothly by staging materials, moving inventory, receiving deliveries, and maintaining an organized warehouse. This position requires previous warehouse or material handling experience and the ability to safely operate material handling equipment. Job Responsibilities of Material Handler

Review daily production schedules and determine material needs for each press.
Retrieve roll stock using a forklift, pallet jack, or other appropriate equipment and deliver materials to the correct press or staging area.
Stage pallets, cores, and boxes for finishing operations as needed.
Coordinate with production team members to respond quickly to requests for paper, cores, boxes, and other supplies.
Receive roll stock, cores, boxes, and other materials, verifying items and quantities against applicable documentation.
Accurately enter receiving information into the appropriate computer system.
Use forklifts, cherry pickers, and reach trucks to place stock in designated storage locations.
Retrieve returned rolls from production, label them, update inventory records, and return them to the correct warehouse location.
Assist with trash and material disposal as needed.
Perform daily forklift inspections and follow established safety procedures.
Participate in monthly and quarterly physical inventory counts.
Keep warehouse areas clean, organized, and safe.
Cross-train in other warehouse and shipping functions as needed.
Perform additional duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications of Material Handler

High school diploma or equivalent required.
At least 1 year of similar warehouse or material handling experience.
Forklift certification required or ability to obtain certification shortly after starting.
Basic computer skills and ability to learn inventory and receiving software.
Good written and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks and respond to changing production needs.
Proactive, organized, detail-oriented, and capable of solving problems.
Ability to safely operate a forklift, cherry picker, reach truck, and pallet jack.
Willingness to cross-train in other warehouse functions.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements of Material Handler

Must be able to perform frequent lifting, standing, crouching, and repetitive tasks.
Must be able to frequently lift up to 50 pounds and lift up to 75 pounds with assistance.
Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds for short durations.
Requires regular use of hands to safely operate forklifts, cherry pickers, reach trucks, and pallet jacks.
Work may involve regular exposure to dust and noise in a production environment.
Safety toe shoes and eye protection are highly recommended.
Safety harness is required when operating applicable equipment above ground level.
Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and be subject to random drug screening.
