Chief Development Officer

the client is seeking a Chief Development Officer to serve as its senior development executive and a member of the Executive Leadership Team. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the CDO will build and lead a comprehensive, growth-oriented development program that expands philanthropic revenue, strengthens donor engagement, and supports the client’s long-term strategic priorities. Responsibilities include major and principal gifts, annual giving, foundation and corporate partnerships, planned giving, campaigns, and donor stewardship. this is a transformational leadership opportunity for a strategic, relationship-driven, results-oriented development executive. the CDO will assess the current development operation, strengthen its structure and capabilities, establish clear goals and accountability, and build a more disciplined and sustainable pipeline of philanthropic support. the role will help expand the client’s philanthropic reach, with the organization operating at meaningful scale and serving multiple locations in the Washington, DC metropolitan area under a mission that integrates healthcare, education, and social services. the ideal candidate will deeply align with the mission and demonstrate the ability to build genuine relationships with donors and partners. this leader is expected to honor the work that has been built while creating the support and momentum to advance future priorities. the position is based in Washington, DC and is offered in a hybrid work format.
