Location Stony Brook, NY

Assignment Duration This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule 5 days a week from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM with a lunch break from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM

Job Description The Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting blood specimens from outpatients while adhering to established protocols to ensure proper sample collection and patient safety. This role includes transporting blood specimens to laboratory departments and conducting in-service education programs related to phlebotomy techniques. Additionally, the Phlebotomist will perform various clerical duties as required.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood specimens from patients through venipuncture and capillary puncture techniques.
• Provide phlebotomy services based on physician orders.
• Enter data concerning blood specimens into a computer database and maintain appointment schedules.
• Supervise and teach medical technology students in phlebotomy theories and techniques.
• Maintain inventory of supplies necessary for blood specimen collection.
• Participate in the overall function of the laboratory as needed.
• Perform related duties as required or directed.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• High School diploma.
• 1 year of experience in a hospital or lab setting.
• Certification in Phlebotomy or Medical Assisting.
