Position requires regular operation of a city vehicle to perform duties. 2nd Shift or 3rd shift**MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**Performs a variety of semi-skilled, heavy manual tasks related to the collection of refuse on assigned residential/business routes or performs duties to maintain cleanliness in the Central Business District, Light Rail, Gold Line as well as other duties as assigned.**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES*** Ability to follow specific instructions, recognize and apply safe work practices* Ability to walk long distances, lift and carry 100 lbs.* Ability to work assigned shift and may be required to assist in multiple areas* Ability to work outdoors exposed to all weather conditions* Must be able to work holidays* Must also be able to work nights, weekends or other unusual hours as needed in support of special events or emergency response* Knowledge of traffic laws, regulations, safety precautions and work hazards involved in operation of equipment* Ability to read street maps and follow instructions* Final candidate subject to job related physical agility test* Ability to obtain a City driver permit is required**PREFERRED QUALIFICATION**Previous manual labor experience**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**Valid Driver's License**SALARY**$24.60 per hour**CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT**The City’s Background Check Policy requires background checks to be conducted on final internal or external candidate(s) applying for any position with the City of Charlotte.
