Essential Job Functions

• Maintains a visible presence while working alone in parking lots without immediate supervision to patrol parking lots and facilities on foot or by electric cart to identify improperly parked vehicles, deter theft, and ensure vehicles have valid parking authorization.

• Monitors ingress and egress activity and keeps supervisor advised of potential delays.

• Directs patrons to available or alternative parking areas or venues.

• Ensures smooth traffic flow by posting signage, redirecting traffic, opening additional lanes, or calling for additional attendants during peak periods.

• Issues valid parking passes to pre-authorized guests and enforces parking authorization by issuing warnings and citations to unauthorized and improperly parked vehicles.

• Identifies and reports safety risks, security concerns, and other observed parking issues requiring management attention and/or repair.

• Conducts daily parking vacancy counts of space availability, a minimum of two times per day, and reports data to supervisor.

• Safely operates, parks, and maintains electric carts, including maintaining daily electric vehicle (EV) charging logs and properly securing charging cables when not in use.

• Uses handheld communication devices, such as radios, to coordinate ongoing parking lot activities with team members.

• Works collaboratively with other Parking Lot Attendants to support special events requiring parking preparation for high volumes of guests.

• Performs minor housekeeping duties, including removal of trash and debris within the facility and parking lot booth.

Requirements

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

No training or experience is required.

LICENSE:

A valid California Class C Driver License is required to perform job-related essential functions.

PHYSICAL CLASS 3 – MODERATE: This class requires that the incumbent stand or walk most of the time with bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, reaching, working on irregular surfaces, occasional lifting of objects weighing over 25 pounds, and frequent lifting of 10-25 pounds.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

• One year or more of experience as a parking lot attendant that includes directing traffic and patrolling lot.

• Non-parking lot front-facing customer service experience, such as fast food, restaurant server, retail store, sports stadiums, or similar experience.

EXAMINATION CONTENT:

This examination will consist of an evaluation of training and experience based on application information and desirable qualifications, weighted 100%.

You must meet the requirements and achieve a passing score of 70% or higher on the evaluation in order to be placed on the eligible list.

ELIGIBILITY AND VACANCY INFORMATION: Candidates who passed the assessment are placed on a list in the order of their score group for a period of twelve (12) months.

The resulting eligible list for this examination will be used to fill vacancies in the Department of Parks and Recreation as they occur. However, the current vacancies are at 13144 Crossroads Parkway S, City of Industry, CA.
