Details Staff Float Pool MedSurg position with assignment to a home unit on first day of orientation 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 am start, 36 hours per week on a 36/48 schedule Possible units include Trauma Surgical, Neuroscience, MedSurg/Oncology, Clinical Decision Unit, Orthopedics, and MS/Ortho/Urology Patient ratios range from 1:5 to 1:6 depending on unit Telemetry monitored by techs with hallway monitors; RNs required to interpret and confirm strip readings every 4 hours Uses Cerner EMR (preferred), Plum 360 IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Spacelabs monitors Floating required to like units or patient locations (MS-MS, MS-ICU task, MS-ER/MS holds, ICU-ICU, ICU-MS task limit of 3, ICU-ER/ICU holds) No on-call requirements Weekend rotation of every other weekend or 4 weekend days per month 4-week self-scheduling cycle utilizing Smart Square Requirements Active RN license (AL or compact) currently in hand Minimum 18 months of MedSurg and/or ICU experience required Cerner EMR experience required if candidate has strictly ICU background Required certifications: BLS and NIHSS Unit-specific skills may include wound care, chest tubes, NGT, IV starts, trach care, PEG, ostomy/colostomy care, central line care, PCA pumps, and medication administration/documentation Chemo certification preferred for Oncology unit assignment Additional Information Provide direct patient care across a variety of medical-surgical specialty units including trauma surgical, neuroscience, oncology, orthopedics, and urology populations Unit support includes CNAs, receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, hospitalist, and telemetry monitoring techs Travelers new to the facility or returning after 1 years will receive 24 hours of classroom orientation and 24 hours on the unit Holiday coverage expected for one major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy, though specific dates are not guaranteed off Scrubs of any color are permitted Parking available in designated deck levels only First-time travelers are welcome to apply Former staff must wait 6 months from their last shift before returning as a traveler Must reside outside a 60-mile radius of the facility, as local candidates are not accepted American Traveler Job ID P-763783.
