Systems Engineer

Senior Systems EngineerCastalia Systems is seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer with deep experience in risk mitigation within SIGINT environments to support a mission-critical Intelligence Community (IC) customer. This role focuses on proactively identifying, analyzing, and mitigating technical and operational risks across complex, distributed SIGINT systems and architectures.The ideal candidate brings a strong systems engineering foundation combined with hands-on experience in signals intelligence platforms, mission systems integration, and secure architecture design.Roles and ResponsibilitiesA qualified candidate will perform the following duties and responsibilities, but are not limited to:Lead risk identification, assessment, and mitigation strategies across SIGINT system lifecycles (design, integration, deployment, sustainment)Perform end-to-end systems engineering activities, including requirements analysis, architecture development, and system validationAnalyze SIGINT system performance, vulnerabilities, and operational risks, recommending actionable mitigation strategiesDevelop and maintain risk registers, mitigation plans, and technical documentationCollaborate with mission stakeholders, operators, and cross-functional engineering teams to ensure risk-informed decision-makingSupport system integration and interoperability across multi-domain and distributed SIGINT architecturesEnsure compliance with IC standards, cybersecurity frameworks, and mission assurance requirementsRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field (Master's preferred)8–12+ years of systems engineering experience, with significant exposure to IC or DoD environmentsProven expertise in risk management frameworks (e.g., risk registers, FMEA, mission assurance methodologies)Strong understanding of:Systems engineering lifecycle (SELC)Distributed systems and system-of-systems architecturesCybersecurity principles within classified environmentsAbility to translate complex technical risks into clear, mission-relevant impactsAbility to understand SIGINT intel and how to provide intel analysis reports of specified locationsMust understand collection systems; technical and non-technicalDesired QualificationsDoD or IC experienceKnowledge or experience with SSA (space situational awareness) preferredKnowledge or experience with SCS (space counter-space) preferredPhysical Requirements/Work EnvironmentOnsite in Chantilly, VA and Reston, VA (time split between locations as needed)TravelMinimal travelCompany DescriptionCastalia Systems is a proven business partner providing mission critical solutions to the Federal Government.
