Associate Veterinarian (Indian Trail)

Job Description

Introduction

Our client is a privately owned hospital seeking an Associate Veterinarian to join their growing team. This well-established small animal practice primarily treats cats and dogs, with openness to expanding into additional species.

Working Hours / Rota

This full-time position is designed with work-life balance at its core, featuring a thoughtfully structured rotating schedule that averages just 3.5 working days per week. Our doctors enjoy built-in long weekends every month, with 4–5 consecutive days off regularly incorporated into the schedule—giving you meaningful time to rest, travel, or recharge. Shifts are scheduled as either 8:00 am – 6:00 pm or 9:00 am – 7:00 pm, with hospital hours of 7:30 am – 7:00 pm on Mondays and Thursdays, 7:30 am – 6:00 pm Tuesday through Friday, and 7:30 am – 4:00 pm on Saturdays. Weekend responsibilities are minimal, averaging just two short (6-hour) Saturday shifts every three weeks. There are no overnight shifts, no on-call duties, and no emergency coverage, allowing for true time off when you leave the hospital. Altogether, this schedule results in fewer than 180 working days per year, making it an ideal opportunity for veterinarians seeking both professional fulfilment and exceptional quality of life.

Role Description and Responsibilities

This role includes a varied caseload with responsibilities such as working up medical cases, performing surgical procedures, carrying out dentistry, and utilising diagnostic tools to support patient care. You will also be responsible for building strong client relationships through clear communication and education, while managing a steady appointment load of approximately 15–25 cases per day in a fast-paced environment. The hospital is seeking an experienced veterinarian with a minimum of two years’ experience who is confident working both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

You will be joining a collaborative and efficient team of 8 DVMs, with 4 typically working at any given time. The support staff ratio is exceptionally strong at 5:1, including technicians, assistants, and administrative team members, ensuring doctors are well-supported throughout the day.
