Senior Specialist, Electrical Engineer - Power Supply DesignL3Harris in San Diego, CA is seeking an experienced Power Supply Design Engineer with a strong background in analog circuit design with emphasis on DC-DC Switched Mode power supply design and development to work on Telemetry and RF products. This requirement includes Fly back and Feed forward DC-DC converter design capabilities with low and high DC input power requirements.Essential Functions:Responsible for all aspects of detailed design and development of Power Supplies for RF and microwave assemblies. This includes system power distribution and module level design and definition, schematic capture, circuit design, derating, and Worst-Case Analysis (WCA).Define EMI/EMC requirements and implement methods to meet product requirementsPrepare and present engineering design concepts and data results for IDR/PDR/CDREstimate task schedules and budgets (BOEs) for programs, proposals, and IR&D effortsSupport internal peer design reviews, design verification testing of engineering unit and oversight of design through productionRequired Qualifications (one of the following):Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent required and minimum 6 years of Power Supply design experienceMasters of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with at least 4 years of Power Supply experienceIn lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experiencePreferred Additional Skills:Experience developing isolated and non-isolated Buck, Boost, Forward, Flyback, half Bridge or Full Bridge ConvertersMinimum of 2 years experience troubleshooting subassemblies to the component levelProfessional experience independently developing test procedures and conducting design verification testing for temperature, inrush, load and line variation, and pulse loading for stabilityMinimum of 2 years experience with design and test for EMI (Electromagnetic Interface)Experience within the aerospace industryFamiliarity with transmitter and receiver architecture and designSimulation experience with some of these tools: PSPICE, INTERSIL ISIN, LTSPICE, OrCAD, PADsUnderstanding of EMI/EMC requirements and implementation methods to meet product requirementsExperience with the challenges associated with designing space qualified hardware and an understanding of analog and IC circuit design are preferredAbility to complete design/project goals with little to no technical supervisionEffective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex technical conceptsAbility to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and manage multiple projects simultaneouslyIn compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range in California for this role is $106,500.00 - $197,500.00. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
