$230,000 per year | Part-time

In this role you will be responsible for providing medical services related to diagnosis and treatment of detainee patients and emergency treatment of staff and visitors. Ensure that appropriate healthcare is accessible and provided to the detainee population in a timely fashion. Renders medical judgment regarding care provided to detainees assigned to the facility in compliance with MTC Medical and customer directives, along with the Community Standards of Care.

Education and Experience Requirements: What you will do

• Perform complete medical histories and physical examinations; form clinical impressions based upon findings; order diagnostic tests, interpret results of laboratory tests and radiological examinations, prescribe medications, and render treatments appropriate to clinical impressions.

• Inspect, complete and analyze medical records, assign review and update medical classifications; complete admission notes, progress notes, treatment plans and discharge summaries and make rounds on patients admitted to the medical unit.

• Serve in rotation with other providers to provide after-hours and weekend patient care, if required, including accepting on-call rotation.

• Refer patients for specialty consultations and treatment through the utilization manager process.

• Utilize established corporate facility, and corrections policies and procedures in making decisions, while using sound independent judgment in performing the duties of the position.

• Maintain security and confidentiality of all patient medical records. Observe applicable HIPPA rules.

• Evaluate provision of services to prevent inappropriate use or duplication of services.

• Monitor all potential catastrophic illnesses.

• Implement basic cost containment and utilization management for patient care and facility operations.

• Comply with all applicable pharmacy regulations, especially those regarding controlled substances.

• Provide health counseling and health education on an individual or group basis, as required.

• Assist corporate counsel with responses to detainee lawsuits.

• Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings, QI, UM, P&T, and other meetings as required.

• Facilitate, where applicable, NCCHC/ACA accreditation of the medical program by providing the required level of efficiency and approved appropriate medical services.

• Comply with requirements for applicable regulations, laws, policies, standards and contracts.

• Perform rescue functions at accidents, emergencies and disasters to include administering basic emergency medical aid, physically removing people away from dangerous situations, and securing and evacuating people from confined areas.

• Requires long periods of walking and standing.

• Regular and predictable onsite attendance required.

• Promote the development of positive social skills among staff and detainees through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed.

• Maintain accountability of detainees and property; adhere to safety practices.

• Incumbent is required to provide on-call services as directed.

• It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.

Education and Experience Requirements: What you will need

• MD or DO Board Certified or Board eligible in Emergency Medicine, Family Practice or Internal Medicine,

• Valid license to practice medicine in the state of Arizona, and current continuing education required by MTC Medical and professional regulatory board,

• Current DEA and current BLS certification

• US Citizenship or Lawful US Permanent Resident required.

• Must successfully complete required preservice training.

• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
