CNC Machinist 2nd Shift

About the Role:
The CNC Machinist also known as CNC Operator or CNC Programmer is responsible for setting up programming and operating CNC machines to produce precision components in a manufacturing environment. This role supports production efficiency by maintaining tight tolerances ensuring quality standards and troubleshooting machining processes during second shift operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up program and operate CNC machines including mills and lathes to meet production targets
  • Read and interpret blueprints engineering drawings and technical specifications
  • Make programming adjustments and tool offsets to maintain dimensional tolerances
  • Perform in-process inspections using calipers micrometers and other measuring devices
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on CNC equipment
  • Monitor production output and ensure adherence to quality and safety standards

Qualifications:

  • Technical certificate in machining or equivalent hands-on CNC experience
  • Experience setting up and operating CNC machines in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read blueprints and understand machining tolerances
  • Proficiency with measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks including standing bending and lifting
  • Ability to meet production deadlines and work overtime as needed

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with CNC programming including G-code editing and optimization
  • Familiarity with multi-axis machining or advanced CNC equipment
  • Experience in high-volume or precision manufacturing environments
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices
