As a camp educator,you’llhave a fun, energetic, and meaningful experience that also comes with real responsibility. You’llbe trustedto keep campers safe, engaged, and supported throughout the day, a big responsibility but one that youwon’tbe navigating alone. The Role: As aCamp Educator(CEs), you shouldhave a passion for farms or nature, thrive outdoors, and are deeply committed to the environment.You willconnect children to the farm while encouraging learning, exploring, making friends, and having fun.Youare enthusiastic and fun-loving,patient,and kind, while beingresponsible and aware of safety concerns. Specifically,you’ll: Receive full training to lead environmental education activities at becoming familiar with the farm and local ecology, as well as and developmentallyappropriate waysto interact with campers Be responsible forthe daily supervision and safety of a group of 10-15 campers (ages 5-11 years old). Collaboratively plandailyand weeklyschedulesof age-appropriatefarm- andnature-based activities, games, and crafts. Lead nature exploration and inquiry investigations with your camper group. Manage group dynamics among campers,prioritizing safety and respect for others and nature Work with Counselors-in-Training/CITs(ages 15-17) to help you and them create a positive camp experience for everyone. Report injuries andsocial-emotionalissues to the Camp Director. Perform daily camp staff chores to prepareforandclose downcampeach day. Meet periodically with the Camp Director to evaluate experience and performance. Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation. This is aseasonal, non-exemptpositionMondays-Fridays,8:15 AM-3:30 PMreporting totheSouth Shore School & Youth Programs Manager & Camp Director. What You’ll Need: Skills and Experience: Working towards abachelor's degree in education, environmental studies, science, or other relevantexperience orcourse of study preferred. Experience in outdoor education, working as a camp counselor, classroom teacher, or informal educator with children ages 5-11. Knowledge of or interest in nature education and desire to share your passion for the natural world with children;localecologyor farm background preferred. Positive attitude and flexibility to changing circumstances and all types ofsummerweather conditions. Embrace inclusion of all, and an open-mindedness to learn through new experiences. Must be outgoing and bring unbridled joy and enthusiasm to work. The ability to lift 40 pounds. Able and willing to work outdoors all summer in variable weather conditions Eligibility Criteria: Minimum age is 18 years oldby the beginning of camp Full availability for camp staff training weeks (June8-19) and all eight weeks of camp (June22–August 14), Mondays-Fridays, 8:15AM-3:30PM Reliable transportationto and from work Adult/Child CPR and Basic First Aid certified(provided if needed) Current authorization to work in the United States – a candidate must have such authorization by his or her first day of employment.
