If you've ever searched for a State Farm agent online or visited an agent web page, you've used something our team built.As an engineer here, you'll own solutions from concept through production – not just write code to a spec. You'll work directly with product, business partners, analytics, UX, and other engineers to figure out what's broken, shape the fix, and ship it. You'll have real input into technical decisions early in your career, not just once you're senior.Our platform runs on AWS and Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS (ROSA). Right now, we're modernizing legacy systems into reusable services, strengthening data quality and security, and using AI-assisted tools like GitHub Copilot, Codex to build faster and better. You'll be learning modern cloud-native engineering practices from engineers who are actively modernizing a platform that touches millions of customer interactions – not maintaining something static.If you want to grow fast, take real ownership early, and see your code affect how customers actually find and connect with an agent, this is that role.What we're looking for: 2-3 years of professional software development experience, or a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field plus relevant internship/project experience.QualificationsKey Skills & Abilities:Ability to build relationships across multiple teams and levels of the organizationAbility to quickly adapt to a changing environmentAbility to foster innovation, encourage diversity of thought, and incorporate new ideasExperience or comfort working in an agile environmentStrong communication skills, both verbal and writtenTechnical competencies:Primary SkillsFull-stack development experience with Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and JavaScript.Hands-on experience deploying and supporting applications on cloud/container platforms such as AWS, OpenShift, or Kubernetes.Ability to design scalable, object-oriented applications using modern design patterns.Understanding of software engineering best practices, including code quality, automated testing, maintainability, and working with relational databases.Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot, Codex to accelerate development, testing, debugging and documentation.Desired SkillsExperience with Angular, JavaScript, and modern front-end frameworks.Experience with ROSA/OpenShift and cloud-native application deployment.Experience delivering software from concept through production.Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams.Our BenefitsBecause work-life balance is a priority at State Farm, compensation is based on our standard 38:45-hour work week!Potential starting salary range: $85,500 - $125,000Starting salary will be based on skills, background, and experienceHigh end of the range limited to applicants with significant relevant experiencePotential yearly incentive pay up to 15% of base salaryAt State Farm, we offer more than just a paycheck.
