The Ashokan Center, a 501c (3) not for profit, is looking for a bright, reliable, energetic, flexible, customer service and detail-oriented Assistant Bookkeeper. You will work with the Finance Director to maintain accurate financial records, process transactions, support payroll and reconciliation processes, as well as ensuring timely documentation and filing across multiple systems. On occasion, it will be necessary to work over the weekend during Ashokan events. Requirements Key Responsibilities: Accounts payable Accounts receivable Cash receipts and deposits Vendor setup and maintenance Customer invoicing Credit-card expense processing Employee expense reimbursements Bank reconciliations Credit-card reconciliations Payroll processing support Payroll journal entries Routine journal entries Fixed-asset records Filing and maintaining accounting documentation Responding to routine vendor and employee accounting questions Assisting with month-end close Reconcile and maintain W-9 records for subcontractors Acquire, organize, and maintain employee status sheets Prepare petty cash for gift store and events Perform general filing and document management Qualifications: 1-3 years of experience in nonprofit bookkeeping/accounting Associate or bachelor's degree in accounting or bookkeeping preferred Familiarity with accounting systems and tools (Quickbooks Online) Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines Collaborative, mission-driven environment supporting educational and cultural arts programming Strong communication and follow-up skills Proactive and able to work independently Comfortable handling confidential financial information Working with a creative, collaborative, fun-loving staff Health, vision and dental Insurance 401k after the first year 2 weeks of vacation 1 week of sick time 9 paid holidays Meals when groups are onsite Access to Ashokan's 385 acre preserve Free admission to Ashokan festivals, workshops, concerts & lectures #J-18808-Ljbffr
