CDL A Driver

The Class A CDL Driver is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of construction materials, tools, equipment, and supplies to and from industrial construction project sites. This position is expected to operate commercial vehicles safely, comply with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, and support field operations while developing proficiency in equipment hauling, load securement, and logistics coordination. Safely operate Class A commercial vehicles including tractor-trailers, flatbeds, and gooseneck trailers. Transport construction materials, tools, equipment, and supplies to project sites and company facilities. Assist with loading, unloading, and securing cargo using approved tie-down methods. Perform daily pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip vehicle inspections. Complete driver logs, inspection reports, fuel records, bills of lading, and other required documentation. Comply with DOT regulations, Hours of Service (HOS) requirements, FMCSA regulations, and Company policies. Maintain communication with dispatch, project supervision, and warehouse personnel regarding delivery schedules. Assist warehouse and yard personnel with staging materials and organizing inventory when not driving. Maintain cleanliness and basic preventative care of assigned vehicles and trailers. Report vehicle maintenance issues, accidents, or unsafe conditions immediately. Demonstrate professional customer service when interacting with clients, vendors, and project personnel. Participate in Company safety meetings and transportation training. Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). Current DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate. Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). Ability to pass DOT drug and alcohol screening requirements. Ability to safely operate manual or automatic commercial vehicles. Strong work ethic, dependability, and willingness to learn. Ability to travel and work overtime, weekends, or overnight assignments as required. Preferred Qualifications 0–2 years of commercial driving experience. TWIC Card. Experience operating flatbed trailers or hauling construction materials. Basic knowledge of equipment load securement. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Basic knowledge of DOT regulations and commercial vehicle operation. Ability to safely inspect and operate commercial vehicles. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to follow routing instructions and delivery schedules. Mechanical aptitude for identifying vehicle issues. Commitment to safety and customer service. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Physical Requirements Frequently lift and carry up to 75 pounds. Climb onto trailers and equipment safely. Bend, stoop, kneel, and secure loads using chains, binders, and straps. Sit for extended periods while operating commercial vehicles. Work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Wear all required PPE while on project sites. Working Conditions This position supports industrial construction operations at: Manufacturing facilities Warehouses Remote project locations Work may involve exposure to heavy equipment, construction traffic, dust, noise, and changing weather conditions. Safety Expectations Employees are expected to: Follow all DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, Company, and client safety requirements. Perform required vehicle inspections before and after each trip. Properly secure all loads before transport. Exercise Stop Work Authority when unsafe conditions exist. Report all incidents, hazards, and near misses immediately. Maintain a drug-free workplace and comply with DOT random testing requirements.
