The Biomaterials Production Lab Technician performs critical tasks such as compounding and mixing the chemicals needed to create the buttons in which IOLs are formed./ppSound Interesting? Heres what youll do:/pulliComprehensive understanding of all applicable MSOPs, QCSOPs, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and line clearance requirements./liliMaintain proper documentation per GDP (Good Documentation Practices) by filling out work orders correctly and accurately recording accepted and rejected quantities./liliKeep workspace clean and organized./liliVisual inspection of defects and record rejects on device history record (DHR)./liliMeticulously perform biomaterials formulation mixing processes with minimal or no errors./liliPerform SAP confirmation of materials used during material formulation./liliCapture critical data from curing, extraction and drying processes process and upload to analyze and interpret for verification of design specifications./liliDemold biomaterial sheets from heated glass molds while incurring minimal damage/rejects./liliProcess biomaterial sheets through a semi-automated punch and die while carefully aligning the material to maximize yield./liliPerform button extraction with methanol in Soxhlet Extraction set-up and periodically check on extraction status./liliPerform silicone tubing and gasket extraction./liliPerform methanol and hydrophobic button isolation (shakeout) and drying processes./liliLoading drying ovens and initiate programs. Verify correct process and program input parameters./liliInspect, confirm final quantities and package finished buttons./liliPerform dimensional inspection for button diameter and thickness./liliPerform physical inventory of raw materials and supplies. Upload inventory in to database./liliSubmit Material Request Forms or Kanban form to maintain raw material inventory./liliMonitor raw material inventory levels and submit scrap form requests for destruction./liliElevate any process non-conformances to leads, supervisors, or quality control./liliEnsure that all finished product meets quality standards and specifications./liliListen and communicate effectively with Technicians, Leads and Supervisors about any production, quality or safety issues./li/ulpWork Environment:/ppThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
