Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Make an impact supporting students with hearing differences in the greater Chattanooga region. This full-time contract role spans the 2026-2027 academic year, offering the chance to work as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in a variety of school settings. Hours total 35 per week and assignments may involve multiple schools based on district needs.

Bring your expertise to a highly collaborative educational team focused on fostering accessible, inclusive learning environments. You will serve students across a range of age groups; specific caseload information will be provided once finalized by the district.

Key Qualifications:

• Current and active DOE certification required
• Previous experience teaching or supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
• Proven familiarity with instructional strategies and accommodations specific to DHH learners
• Strong communication skills for collaborating with staff, students, and families
• Fingerprinting completion prior to start date (time-sensitive credentialing requirement)
• Dedicated to upholding best practices in accessibility and inclusion

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized and small group instruction tailored to DHH students
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create and implement IEPs
• Provide consultative support to general education teachers and staff
• Monitor student progress, maintain detailed documentation, and communicate growth to families
• Adapt teaching materials and classroom environments as needed for student success
• Stay current with professional best practices in DHH education
