Job Summary:
The position is for a Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit located in Alexandria, Louisiana. This role involves providing specialized cardiac and medical intensive care to patients. Candidates are required to bring their nursing license on the first day. The position offers the opportunity for a temporary-to-permanent arrangement.

Job Details:

Experience and Qualifications: Current Louisiana registered nurse license or current Compact state license. BLS certification via American Heart Association (AHA) and advanced cardiovascular life support (ACLS) certification via AHA are required. Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing is preferred. At least 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty is preferred; new graduates will be considered.
Schedule: Nights shift from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
Responsibilities: Deliver routine and complex nursing care independently, demonstrating awareness of all relevant aspects of patient management. Assess patient needs, administer medications and treatments, document patient information, and provide education to patients and families. Demonstrate effective delegation and assignment of care duties, and address psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients. Always adhere to nursing standards and protocols.
Patient Population: Care for patients with DKA, Acute Respiratory Failure, MIs, CABGs, Ventilators, and other critical conditions in a mixed cardiac and medical ICU.
Additional Information: Blocked scheduling is not accommodated. Every other weekend work is required. No on-call or floating responsibilities. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 2:1 for ICU patients and 4:1 for IMCU patients in the ICU. Candidates must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire and complete annual competency verifications.
