PhlebotomistThe primary role of the phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. This position requires a professional who can effectively manage multiple tasks while providing excellent customer service.ResponsibilitiesPerform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and update patient information.Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.Explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections in a clear and courteous manner.Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.Fully understand and follow physicians' orders.Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.Ensure accuracy by checking test requisitions or computer labels against scripts.Package specimens for transport and store them according to required temperature.Label specimens accurately and follow procedures to maintain specimen integrity during transport.Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.Attend annual department trainings.Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.Primarily work with adults and geriatric patients.Essential SkillsPhlebotomyBlood drawVenipunctureMobile PhlebotomistPediatric through geriatric blood draw experienceBilingual in English/SpanishAbility to handle 30-40 draws per shiftCritical thinking skillsExcellent customer serviceAdditional Skills & QualificationsMinimum of 1-2 years of experience as a phlebotomistExperience with pediatric and geriatric draws, including heel sticks on babiesExperience with processing specimens after drawingAbility to work independentlyHigh School Diploma or GEDValid Driver's LicenseReliable means of transportationWork EnvironmentThe phlebotomist will travel to various sites within the Chicagoland area. Training will take place during the first two weeks of employment. A schedule will be provided 1-2 weeks in advance, with hours working an 8 hour shift Monday to Friday between the hours of 7am-9pm, and rotating Saturdays from 8am-5pm. When scheduled to work a Saturday shift, a day off will be provided during the week. Saturday shifts occur roughly once a month.Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tinley Park, IL.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
