Advanced Practice Provider - Interventional Radiology - Chicago & Oak Park, IL-26335

Location: Chicago, Illinois Hospital: Rush University Medical Center Department: Interventional Radiology Work Type: Full Time (Total FTE between 0.9 and 1.0) Key Responsibilities Four 10‑hour shifts per week in a hybrid inpatient, outpatient, and procedural role. Dedicated weekly clinic sessions, including at Rush Oak Park Hospital, within a pod model alongside an assigned physician and nurse. Daily inpatient rounding on assigned interventional radiology patients. Follow‑up management for patients with IR‑placed drains, lines, and feeding tubes. Coordinate care with physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize outcomes. Provide patient education, discharge planning, and post‑procedure care instructions. Cross‑coverage for line and drain management during APP absences. Perform image‑guided procedures, including paracentesis, thoracentesis, bone marrow and bone lesion biopsies, aspirations with or without drainage catheter placement, drainage checks and removals, and other procedures within scope of practice. Support peri‑procedural evaluation and management of complex patients. Ensure accurate, timely documentation of all encounters in the electronic medical record. Maintain procedural competency and adhere to safety and quality standards. Order, perform, and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests and procedures within scope of practice. Prescribe medications and therapies as delegated. Initiate consultations and make appropriate referrals to other healthcare professionals and services. Outpatient Clinic Responsibilities Maintain dedicated weekly clinic sessions (including Rush Oak Park Hospital). Conduct follow‑up visits for IR patients, including those with drains and feeding tubes. Perform clinic‑based procedures as appropriate. Manage patient communication regarding post‑procedure concerns, drain and line care questions, and coordination of follow‑up care. Provide comprehensive patient education on self‑care and post‑procedure management. Collaborate with nursing staff to ensure continuity of care and patient satisfaction. Support efficient clinic operations and timely patient throughput. Preferred Qualifications Previous Advanced Practice Provider experience is preferred (not required). Relevant RN experience may be considered. APRN candidates must hold an Acute Care Certification. Position Requirements – Nurse Practitioner Current licensure from the State of Illinois as a Registered Professional Nurse and Advanced Practice Nurse, or eligibility to obtain licensure through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR). Master of Science in Nursing or Doctorate of Nursing Practice with an appropriate clinical specialty. Current certification by the American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) or American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications. Position Requirements – Physician Assistant Current licensure from the State of Illinois as a Physician Assistant/Associate, or eligibility to obtain licensure through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR). Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant/Associate Program. Current certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
