$4,235.00 - $5,193.00 per Month New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable. Inspector I Responsibilities Under direction of a Staff Services Manager I, the incumbent manages a caseload of licensees on probation. The Probation Inspector works at the entry, trainee level and monitors probationers' compliance with the terms of disciplinary orders. Compliance issues are referred to the SSM I for further action. The incumbent travels regularly throughout assigned geographic areas and is subject to fingerprint and medical clearance. Inspector II Responsibilities Under general direction of a Staff Services Manager I, the incumbent conducts independent inspections and manages a caseload of difficult and complex probationers. The Probation Inspector works as a subject matter expert in a lead capacity, monitoring compliance with disciplinary orders and referring issues to the SSM I. The incumbent may act as a lead person and provide training to lower-level staff. The incumbent travels regularly throughout assigned geographic areas and is subject to fingerprint and medical clearance. Working Conditions Candidates who reside outside California may be admitted to interview but must reside in California once hired. Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 reduces monthly salary in exchange for leave credits. Salary range posted does not reflect the reduction. Minimum Requirements

Department Information The Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) protects and serves California consumers. DCA educates consumers and protects professionals from unlicensed practitioners. The Medical Board of California (MBC) regulates medical practice and operates the Probation Monitoring Unit – South in San Dimas. Special Requirements Applicants must submit fingerprints for CORI clearance and maintain clearance during employment. A valid driver's license and enrollment in the DMV Employer Pull Notice Program are required. The position requires regular travel and overnight stays and demands medical clearance.
