The City of Robinson is seeking anindividual with road construction experience and a CDL license to work full time performing semi-skilled work in the operation of specialized trucks and heavy motorized equipment used for a variety of job functions in the Public Services Department. Essential job functions include: Operates a variety of specialized trucks and heavy motorized equipment to repair and maintain streets, roadways and infrastructure in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures; hauls materials and transports vehicles and equipment to job sites; duties may vary according to job assignment. Inspects and cleans vehicles, equipment and tools for proper operating condition; repairs, maintains and adjusts equipment; maintains usage logs; Recognizes, avoids and reports unsafe acts, conditions, accidents and injuries; controls work projects to assure that safety rules and regulations are followed and that the work zone and all equipment are in safe operating condition. Supports the relationship between the City of Robinson and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with citizens, visitors and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information. Provides street maintenance services by constructing and maintaining streets, filling potholes, making asphalt street and curb repairs, grading streets Leads work crews performing skilled and semi-skilled general labor, construction, maintenance and repair work; assures that all safety rules and regulations are observed on the job site. Coordinates and assigns staff, vehicles and equipment; checks work activities for compliance to quality standards, safety regulations and City procedures. Monitors operations and enforces adherence to City policies, procedures and standards. Trains work crew in City procedures, techniques and safety standards; trains crew in the use and maintenance of equipment and tools; works with staff to correct performance deficiencies. Collects information, purchases some supplies, prepares reports if necessary, and maintains records as directed. High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required; AND a minimum of three years’ heavy equipment operations experience. 7 to 10 years of progressively responsible experience in the construction and maintenance of streets.2. Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:1. Valid Texas motor vehicle CDL operator’s license2. Driving record acceptable to the City Special Requirements 1. Ability to perform strenuous work in the outdoors under adverse weather conditions.2. Ability to operate heavy equipment effectively and safely.3. Experience in operating Gradall telescopic boom excavators is strongly preferred.4. Ability to supervise, train and motivate employee(s).5. Ability to lift 75 pounds.6. Good knowledge of safety standards and hazard preventions.7. Good knowledge of the safe operation of the equipment used and of the provisions of the Texas Motor Vehicle Code relating to operation of motorized equipment.8. Ability to maintain a good driving record.9. Operation and maintenance methods and standards for heavy equipment and specialized vehicles.10. Methods, tools and equipment used in maintenance of streets, roadways and infrastructure.11. Occupational hazards and safety rules for traffic control and vehicle operations on public streets.12. Performing street and roadway maintenance and repair work.13. Making routine operating adjustments, repairs and preventive maintenance to assigned equipment.14. Closely following verbal and written instructions and procedures and safe work practices.15. Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with co-workers.16. Communicating effectively verbally and in writing.17. Ability to effectively manage a diverse workforce with a broad range of tasks.18.
