Service Field Supervisor

POSITION OVERVIEW: The Service Field Supervisor provides field support to clients and supervises a team of field engineers. The role involves commissioning, troubleshooting, repair, retrofit, and documentation of mechanical and electrical systems, and close interface with quality, project, and client personnel. KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Lead a team of Field Engineers and provide mentoring, training, and leadership. Startup, preventative maintenance, and service of vertical turbine pumps and split‑coupled inline pumps. Startup, preventative maintenance, and service of cooling towers (Evapco, Kelvion, Marley, SPX). Startup, preventative maintenance, and service of centrifugal chillers (Trane, York, McQuay, Smardt). Startup and troubleshooting of variable frequency drives (Eaton and Allen‑Bradley). Install and repair power distribution systems including electric motors, motor control centers, and variable speed drives. Maintain close interface with other Field Engineers, Project Engineers, Project managers, mechanical and electrical engineers, service technicians, and client personnel. Assist the Production Department in assembly or in training of factory personnel. Compile O&M information and transmit critical O&M data during projects. Assist in the compilation of final sets of IOM manuals. Provide feedback from the field to improve processes. Create legible red line drawings for submission to the Project Manager. Arrange timely hand‑offs from construction functions. Direct field commissioning of projects. Troubleshoot all mechanical and electrical equipment. Document commissioning of mechanical and electrical portions of the project. Assist in Quality Assurance and Quality Control functions. Possibly perform or oversee QC checks. Perform other responsibilities as designated by TAS. JOB SKILLS Ability to lead a team of Field Engineers and provide mentoring and guidance. Ability to read drawings and schematics. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Office Projects. Ability to travel extensively both domestically and internationally. Exposure to at least one brand of PLC or building controls. Self‑sufficiency at the job site. EDUCATION & TRAINING HVAC trade school and/or apprenticeship training preferred. Military training and/or technical work experience may be considered in lieu of trade school certification. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Proven track record as a Field Engineer III or commensurate experience leading field teams. Significant project field experience in construction support, startup, repair, and maintenance work. Experience with variable frequency drive startup and troubleshooting (Eaton and Allen‑Bradley). Experience verifying compliance with ASHRAE, ASME, and other relevant codes and practices. Experience with centrifugal chillers, cooling towers, and VFD. Ability to travel extensively to domestic and international job sites. Will be able to work in field construction conditions. Must have or obtain safety certifications such as OSHA‑10 General Construction, NFPA‑70E, and a safe driving record. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT Primarily site‑based; frequent movement of up to 50 pounds; regular sitting, standing, bending, and reaching. Use of safety glasses required; earplugs recommended; steel‑toe boots required. Position requires 80%-95% travel, domestic and international. Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally; frequent light force for lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling. Routine use of fingers, sitting, stooping, bending, crouching, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Visual acuity for color, depth perception, and field of vision needed for data analysis, computer operation, and extensive reading. Work may occur in various interior environmental conditions.
