Medical Affairs Director, US Rare Nephrology

AstraZeneca seeks a Medical Affairs Director to lead US strategy and implementation for atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome and rare nephrology programs. The role combines medical leadership with cross-functional collaboration to advance patient outcomes and support pipeline development in this therapeutic area.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute US medical strategy and operational plans for atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome program
- Partner with executive leadership on late-phase pipeline and lifecycle management medical strategies
- Lead patient journey assessment and product strategy harmonization across functions and key opinion leaders
- Review investigator-sponsored research proposals for strategic alignment and medical appropriateness
- Lead external medical education content development and therapeutic training programs for company personnel
Requirements
- MD, PhD, or PharmD degree with nephrology, hematology, or immunology experience preferred
- Significant medical affairs and biopharmaceutical industry experience with demonstrated strategy development
- Advanced scientific and clinical expertise translating complex data into strategic insights
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence senior stakeholders in matrix environments
- Deep understanding of US healthcare, regulatory, and reimbursement landscapes
- Established track record building relationships with KOLs, academic institutions, and healthcare organizations
Compensation: $206,827–$310,240.80 base annually
