WHAT YOU WILL DO:

The ESIT Music Therapist works as a member of a multidisciplinary service team which includes Speech Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists and Family Resource Coordinators, to serve families/caregivers and their children ages birth to 3 years old with identified developmental concerns. The Developmental Specialist acts as the primary coach for 20-25 families, evaluating and determining eligibility for early intervention services; developing and implementing individual family service plans (IFSP); and providing families/caregivers with coaching and support to meet the designed developmental outcomes in the IFSP and partner with other therapists and team members to develop and deliver socialization group opportunities, child find and observation in group situations.

WORK SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday 8 am to 5 pm

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work closely with families and children as part of a multidisciplinary team consisting of speech- language pathologists, occupational therapists, other developmental specialists, and family resource coordinators, to respond to identified developmental concerns in children ages birth to three.
• Work as primary service provider with Family Resource Coordinators, and families/caregivers to develop and implement Individual Family Service Plans (IFSP) for assigned families and children.
• Meet with the family/child within the family's/child's natural daily routine in the family home or childcare setting.
• Provide up to 20-25 families/caregivers with coaching in support of the developmental outcomes outlined in a child's IFSP. Provide guidance and effective ways to work with and support the child. Model developmentally appropriate activities for the child.
• Collaborate with other service providers within the ESIT team and in the community in order to provide coordinated services for families.
• Maintain all required confidential records and documentation in a timely manner.
• Complete reporting as required.
• Provide referral services as needed.
• Participate in the development and implementation of group socialization activities in partnership with other service providers from within, and outside of the agency.

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

• Bachelor's degree or Master's Equivalency degree in Music Therapy from a recognized and accredited music therapy program.
• Successful completion of all educational and clinical training requirements necessary for board certification in music therapy, including:
  
  • A minimum of 1,200 hours of supervised clinical training;
  • At least 180 hours of practicum experience completed during coursework; and
  • A minimum of 1,020 hours completed through an accredited music therapy internship.
• Current Board Certification as a Music Therapist (MT-BC) through the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT), or the ability to obtain certification prior to hire.
• Current Music Therapist License issued by the Washington State Department of Health, as required by Washington State law, or the ability to obtain licensure prior to the start of
  employment.
• Demonstrated experience providing music therapy services to individuals with diverse physical, emotional, cognitive, developmental, or behavioral health needs preferred.
• Knowledge of evidence-based music therapy interventions, assessment practices, treatment planning, and documentation standards.
• Experience working with children ages birth to 3 years and their families.
• Valid Washington State Driver's License and good driving record required. A three-year driving abstract must be submitted upon request.
• Must have TB test and submit test results prior to hire date.
• Must submit to a criminal record check to ascertain that the applicant has not been convicted of a child abuse or neglect offense per Washington State Child Abuse Law (Ch. 486, Laws of 1987) or DSHS licensing requirements.
• Must submit to drug testing after receiving an offer of employment. Failure to pass this drug test may result in denial of employment. Subsequent employee testing will be conducted as per ELAFS policy and procedures for Reasonable Suspicion, Post-Accident, Follow-up and Random Testing.
• Must have current First Aid card and Infant/Child CPR training (or obtain within 30 days), and must maintain current certificates for length of employment.
• Must submit verification of MMR vaccination, or other WA State accepted documentation of measles immunity, prior to start of work
