Position Summary:
The University of Maryland Capital Region Health is seeking a Full Time Day Shift Patient Care Technician I (PCT I) to join our growing Operating Room team within a fast-paced, high-performing surgical environment focused on exceptional patient care and operational excellence.
This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside surgeons, nurses, anesthesia providers, and perioperative support staff while caring for patients throughout the surgical experience. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, patient-focused, and thrives in a collaborative team environment where safety, efficiency, and compassionate care drive outstanding outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
The following statements describe the general nature and level of work performed and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties.
- Assist with patient transport to and from the Operating Room.
- Support patient positioning and preparation for surgical procedures.
- Obtain and document vital signs as directed.
- Observe and report changes in patient condition to the licensed nurse.
- Prepare, stock, and maintain Operating Room supplies and equipment.
- Assist with room turnover between surgical cases.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe patient care environment.
- Ensure equipment is functioning properly and report safety concerns promptly.
- Follow infection prevention, sterile technique, and safety protocols.
- Support emergency response procedures as needed.
- Deliver exceptional customer service to patients, families, physicians, and team members.
Licensure & Experience:
Current Maryland Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in good standing required.
Current BLS Certification required.
One year of healthcare experience required.
Ability to lift, transfer, and transport patients safely.
