Registered Nurse Stepdown Progressive Care

As a Registered Nurse Stepdown Progressive Care at Ascension, you will provide compassionate, high-acuity patient care on a stepdown/progressive care unit within a mission-driven, non-profit healthcare system. Working in the Healthcare & Medical Services department, you will care for adult patients who are clinically more complex than those on a general medical-surgical unit but stable enough to be outside of intensive care. You will perform frequent assessments, monitor cardiac rhythms and hemodynamic status, administer and titrate IV medications, and respond promptly to changes in patient conditions. You will collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and the broader interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized plans of care that promote safety, recovery, and optimal outcomes. In this role, you will use advanced monitoring equipment, evidence-based protocols, and clinical judgment to manage patients with conditions such as heart failure, post-surgical recovery, sepsis, respiratory compromise, and other complex medical diagnoses. You will provide clear patient and family education, support families through complex decisions, and advocate for patient needs while maintaining accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record.
