Director of Supply Chain Management

Executive Summary

The Director, Supply Management for ASSA ABLOY’s Access & Egress Hardware Group (AEHG) provides executive supply chain leadership across a decentralized network of manufacturing facilities and co-manufacturing partners. Reporting directly to President Doug Thompson, this role requires 10+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience, with specialized background in the electromechanical manufacturing industry, responsible for driving operational resilience, inventory optimization, supplier risk governance, and enterprise SIOP/S&OP execution across complex electromechanical product lines.

Core Responsibilities

  • Electromechanical Manufacturing Supply Chain Strategy: Lead end-to-end supply chain planning, procurement, and materials execution across electromechanical manufacturing operations.
  • Electromechanical SIOP Governance & S&OE Execution: Steer monthly executive SIOP cycles uniting Commercial Sales, Finance, Engineering, and Electromechanical Operations to maintain accurate 30-week production and capacity plans.
  • Procurement & Supplier Resiliency: Optimize global direct and sub-tier supplier networks within the electromechanical manufacturing industry, driving component localization, dual-sourcing strategies, tariff mitigation, and payment term extensions to protect margins and line continuity.
  • Working Capital & Inventory Health: Execute advanced inventory segmentation (Kanban, VMI, pull replenishment) across electromechanical manufacturing networks to slash excess/obsolete (E&O) stock, increase inventory turns, and achieve 95%+ OTIF customer delivery.
  • Plant-Floor & Corporate Integration: Partner directly with electromechanical plant managers, quality engineering, and shop-floor teams via Gemba walks to ensure corporate supply strategies reflect daily electromechanical manufacturing realities.
  • Multi-Site & Matrix Leadership: Align decentralized manufacturing plants, contract manufacturers (CMOs), and regional distribution hubs without direct hierarchical authority, establishing unified KPI scorecards and operating discipline.

Key Qualifications & Requirements

  • Manufacturing Experience: 10+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience, with current or recent experience in the electromechanical manufacturing industry.
  • Multi-Site Leadership: Proven track record of managing supply chain or materials operations across multi-facility manufacturing networks and contract manufacturing organizations (CMOs).
  • Enterprise S&OP / SIOP Steering: Hands-on experience building or anchoring formal Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning rhythms that integrate Sales, Finance, Engineering, and Plant Operations across electromechanical manufacturing lines.
  • High-SKU & Material Management: Demonstrated ability to optimize high-complexity SKU portfolios (2,000+ SKUs), raw materials, sub-assemblies, and long-lead components in electromechanical manufacturing while balancing working capital against fill-rate targets.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or a related technical field required; MBA or Master’s in Supply Chain preferred.
  • Certifications: APICS CPIM/CSCP and Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt preferred.
  • Systems Mastery: Advanced proficiency in enterprise ERP/MRP platforms (SAP ECC/EWM, Kinaxis, Oracle, E2Open) and BI analytics (PowerBI, Tableau) within high-volume electromechanical manufacturing environments.
  • On-Site Operational Footprint: Ability to operate 100% on-site in the Hartford/New Haven, CT area (or relocate within 3–4 weeks) with up to 30% regional travel across electromechanical manufacturing facilities.
