Location: Buddy and Son at PUBLIC Hotel, Lower East Side, New York, NY
Reports to: General Manager and Floor Managers
Employment type: Full-time or part-time, hourly, tipped
Compensation: $11.35 per hour plus tips

ABOUT BUDDY AND SON

Buddy and Son is a seasonal brasserie inside PUBLIC Hotel on the Lower East Side, with 95 seats in the dining room, 35 at the bar, and a 60-seat garden.

The cooking is ingredient-driven and unfussy: sophisticated in sensibility, simple in execution, and built around thoughtful sourcing and seasonality. Buddy and Son is a neighborhood restaurant built on generous hospitality, strong teamwork, and careful attention to the details that shape a guest’s experience.

THE ROLE

Table Support is essential to the pace and quality of service at Buddy and Son. This position works closely with Servers, Bartenders, Hosts, managers, and the kitchen to keep tables prepared, service stations stocked, and the dining room running smoothly.

The right candidate moves with urgency but never makes the room feel rushed. They are observant, organized, and willing to step in wherever support is needed.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare and maintain the dining room before, during, and after service.
• Set, clear, clean, and reset tables accurately and efficiently.
• Provide water service and maintain appropriate glassware and table settings.
• Run food and beverages when directed, following correct seat positions and service standards.
• Learn the menu well enough to identify each dish and communicate basic allergy information.
• Communicate table status and guest needs to Servers and managers.
• Keep service stations stocked with polished silverware, glassware, china, linens, and supplies.
• Remove used items discreetly without interrupting the guest experience.
• Assist with opening, closing, and assigned side work.
• Maintain cleanliness in the dining room, bar, garden, and service areas.
• Handle dishes, glassware, and equipment carefully to limit breakage.
• Follow all food-safety, sanitation, and workplace-safety standards.
• Support teammates without waiting to be asked when a need is clear.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous restaurant experience is helpful but not required.
• Food-runner, busser, back-server, or table-support experience is a plus.
• Ability to safely carry trays and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, bend, lift, and move throughout the restaurant for the duration of a shift.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, brunches, and holidays as required.
