Equipment Operator - Ahoskie, NC

The Equipment Operator operates heavy equipment of various types to remove branches and tree material from electrical lines. Must have valid driver's license; CDL preferred. Must have experience operating a Barko (mower), Linebacker (mower), and Jarraff (Sky trim).

Essential functions include following and enforcing safe practices, assisting in preparing equipment and materials, operating equipment as directed, maintaining and repairing equipment, assisting other crew members, cleaning up debris, setting up barriers, staying informed on new equipment and procedures, tracking mileage, and performing duties for storm work as needed.

Supervisory responsibilities include no direct reports.

Experience requirements include prior heavy equipment operating experience in electric utility vegetation management, construction, logging, landscaping, mechanical, or military industries preferred. High School diploma or education equivalent preferred.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities include knowledge of equipment maintenance and safe operations, physical strength, ability to work outdoors under varying weather conditions, ability to hear verbal instructions, first-aid certification and CPR, wearing necessary personal protective equipment (PPE), good vision, attentiveness, obtaining and maintaining a Driver's License, obtaining and maintaining a CDL and DOT Medical Card, ability to write, read, and comprehend written and verbal job instructions, maintaining balance over uneven terrain, ability to communicate with others, endurance to perform duties throughout a standard eight or ten hour day, and ability to travel out of town for storm restoration work when needed.

Work authorization requirements include meeting I-9 requirements.
