Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)

Job Summary Provides direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist in accordance with the State Practice Act. Assists in implementing prescribed treatment programs to improve patient outcomes.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Deliver skilled treatment interventions as directed by the supervising Physical Therapist.
• Accurately document patient treatment, progress, and responses using proper medical terminology and timely completion of daily notes and charges.
• Communicate patient status and concerns clearly to the supervising therapist.
• Maintain compliance with State Practice Act, Medicare regulations, OSHA standards, and company policies.
• Keep treatment areas and equipment clean and safe per OSHA guidelines.
• Complete required annual trainings, continuing education, and maintain current CPR certification.
• Attend facility meetings and participate in team communication as directed.
• Meet established productivity standards while delivering quality care.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Participate in clinical in-services as requested.
• Stay current with developments in physical therapy and healthcare.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to frequently lift, transfer, and maneuver patients (up to 50 lbs independently) using proper body mechanics.
• Capable of standing, walking, bending, and reaching for extended periods.
• Sufficient visual, hearing, and speech abilities to observe, communicate, and document effectively.
• Ability to push wheeled equipment and perform physically demanding tasks for full shifts in accordance with labor laws.

Required Credentials:
• Graduation from a physical therapist assistant or physical therapist education program accredited by CAPTE or in the case of a graduate of an international physical therapist assistant program or international physical therapist program from a non-CAPTE accredited program seeking licensure, certification, or registration as a physical therapist assistant, a substantially equivalent education
• Current valid State license/registration/certification
