Waste Processing Supervisor

Location Indianapolis, Indiana, United States – Full Time Job Overview Under the general guidance of the On‑Site Project Manager, the Waste Processing Supervisor will oversee the consolidation and operation of all wastes received, including hazardous, non‑hazardous, universal wastes, and off‑spec products. The supervisor will ensure customer orders are safely and accurately processed on time and in accordance with all internal procedures and regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities Maintain operational documentation and coordinate with other sites or corporate teams. Administer scheduled pickups and deliveries, communicating with customers to resolve issues. Support compliance with all federal, state, and local permit requirements. Supervise segregation and packaging for transport, completing required paperwork accurately. Oversee large projects/jobs, schedule and distribute work to a team of technicians, and provide feedback and coaching. Train technicians and operators on equipment operation, service line processes, and paperwork. Promote safety and security initiatives, enforce safety rules and practices, and lead crew safety meetings. Report and respond to facility incidents, conduct root‑cause analysis, and communicate findings. Ensure all employees are knowledgeable about potential hazards and provide training on safety protocols. Perform other reasonably related tasks as assigned. Qualifications High School Diploma required; B.S. in an environmental‑related field preferred or equivalent experience. 5+ years of progressive environmental/hazardous waste management experience in an operations capacity. Experience in the hazardous waste industry and knowledge of RCRA and DOT regulations preferred. Understanding of waste profiling and tracking for inventory and outbound shipping preferred. 40‑hour HAZWOPER training completed and current, or ability to obtain. Ability to pass a DEA background check when relevant. Strong attention to safety, compliance, and team leadership. Skills Compliance and safety knowledge, including lockout/tagout. Customer service and communication, both verbal and written. Presentation and facilitation skills. Administrative and leadership abilities with attention to detail. Team‑building experience and employee engagement strategies. Familiarity with facility platforms, basic computer proficiency, and office software.
