Job Description
A small engine mechanic is responsible for maintaining and repairing heavy-duty machinery used for slab sawing, wall sawing, and core drilling. This role primarily involves working with industrial-grade equipment, specifically 2-stroke and 4-stroke gas engines from brands like Honda, Kohler, and Briggs & Stratton, that power saws and hydraulic units. The position offers an excellent opportunity to learn and advance skills while working under a Master Mechanic.
Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair heavy-duty machinery used for slab sawing, wall sawing, and core drilling.
• Work primarily with 2-stroke and 4-stroke gas engines, including brands like Honda, Kohler, and Briggs & Stratton.
• Service heavy concrete cutting equipment, such as walk-behind flat saws, handheld ring and chainsaws, and core drills.
• Maintain hydraulic power packs and ensure the hydraulic pressure for large wall and wire saws is optimal.
• Utilize standard engine repair tooling, including hand tools, impact wrenches, and specialty pullers.
• Conduct diagnostics using multimeters, leak-down and compression testers, and spark testers.

Essential Skills

• Experience with small engines and mechanical troubleshooting.
• Ability to perform preventive maintenance on heavy-duty machinery.
• Familiarity with industrial-grade 2-stroke and 4-stroke gas engines.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Prior experience as a small engine or other mechanic is preferred.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fargo, ND.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
