Finance Manager

Ascendo Resources is seeking a Finance Manager for a full-time, on-site role up to $150,000. Our client is a mission-driven non-profit healthcare organization with 100+ years serving the Bronx community, providing skilled nursing, assisted living, and memory care. The organization is currently undergoing a finance transformation under newly hired CFO and Controller leadership, with a lean, five-person accounting team. Position Overview We are seeking a hands-on Finance Manager to help strengthen and improve the finance and accounting function during this period of transformation. This role has primary responsibility for Revenue reconciliation and Accounts Receivable management, while supporting month-end close, AP oversight, cost reporting, financial reporting, and other core accounting functions. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in the details, investigating discrepancies, and driving issues through resolution. Key Responsibilities Own the monthly Revenue reconciliation process, ensuring revenue recorded in the general ledger agrees to underlying billing and operational records Own and actively manage the Accounts Receivable aging, including investigation and resolution of aged, unusual, and growing balances Reconcile AR subledgers and billing systems to the general ledger; resolve discrepancies timely Partner with billing and operational teams to improve billing accuracy, collections, and revenue-cycle processes Provide oversight and financial review of Accounts Payable, including invoice accuracy, coding, approvals, supporting documentation, and AP reconciliation Perform and review key balance sheet reconciliations and investigate unusual or unsupported balances Lead and prepare healthcare cost reports and work with external advisors, ensuring cost report data reconciles to the general ledger Assist with audits, tax filings, and state/regulatory reporting Review work performed by third-party accounting service providers (journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, variance analysis) Prepare and review monthly financial statements and management reports Establish and document accounting procedures and internal controls Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting (CPA or Master's preferred) 8+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience Strong hands-on experience with Revenue, Accounts Receivable, reconciliations, and month-end close Demonstrated ability to analyze AR aging, identify root causes, and drive resolution Healthcare or insurance industry experience strongly preferred, including cost reporting experience Experience with Accounts Payable processes and vendor reconciliations Experience working with external accounting, audit, or advisory providers Public accounting/audit background preferred Tech-savvy, comfortable working across financial systems Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills #J-18808-Ljbffr
