GD Resources LLC is seeking experienced Carpenters to support facility maintenance, renovation, and construction projects at the Dallas VA Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. The selected candidates will perform skilled carpentry work involving installation, repair, alteration, and construction of building structures, finishes, fixtures, and facility components throughout a healthcare environment.
Position Summary
The Carpenter is responsible for performing skilled carpentry services associated with facility construction, renovation, remodeling, repair, and maintenance activities throughout the Dallas VA Medical Center.
The selected candidate will install, repair, and modify walls, floors, ceilings, doors, windows, roofs, cabinetry, furniture, flooring systems, and other building components. The Carpenter will perform both rough and finish carpentry tasks while ensuring all work meets facility requirements, safety standards, and quality expectations.
The successful candidate must have strong knowledge of carpentry methods, construction techniques, building materials, and the ability to work independently while supporting healthcare facility operations.
Key Responsibilities
General Carpentry and Construction

The Carpenter will coordinate daily activities with VA personnel while remaining under the supervision and management of GD Resources LLC.

At the conclusion of each shift, the Carpenter shall provide the COR with updates regarding:

The standard work schedule is:
Any work performed outside normal business hours requires prior approval from the Contracting Officer Representative (COR), Contracting Officer, or authorized Government representative.
Overtime is not permitted unless authorized in advance through applicable Government approval procedures and contract modification requirements.

Key Responsibilities
General Carpentry and Construction
- Perform rough and finish carpentry work throughout hospital buildings and facility areas.
- Install, alter, repair, and maintain:
- Walls
- Floors
- Ceilings
- Roof structures
- Doors
- Windows
- Frames
- Trim and architectural finishes
- Construct and install new structures, partitions, and temporary facilities.
- Perform repairs and modifications to existing building components.
- Support renovation and remodeling projects.
Perform interior construction activities, including:
- Construction and installation of drywall partitions.
- Installation and repair of wall systems.
- Installation of temporary wood structures.
- Repair and modification of interior finishes.
- Installation of trim, molding, and architectural details.
- Repair damaged walls, ceilings, and surfaces.
- Install and repair doors and windows.
- Install door frames and related hardware.
- Perform mortising of doors and frames for:
- Lock strike plates
- Door hardware
- Security components
- Adjust doors and windows to ensure proper operation.
- Repair damaged frames, trim, and related components.
Perform installation and repair of:
- Acoustical ceiling systems.
- Various floor coverings.
- Carpet flooring systems.
- Vinyl and related flooring materials.
- Ceiling panels and support systems.
Cabinetry, Furniture, and Custom Fabrication
Construct and install custom wood products, including:
- Cabinets.
- Tables.
- Work benches.
- Shelving systems.
- Bulletin boards.
- Whiteboards and blackboards.
- Storage solutions.
- Custom facility fixtures.
- Wood.
- Formica.
- Laminate coverings.
- Paneling materials.
Perform carpentry support activities for exterior construction projects, including:
- Building forms for concrete walks.
- Constructing forms for road curbing.
- Building forms for steps and related structures.
- Supporting facility improvement and repair projects.
- Select and use appropriate hand tools and power tools for carpentry activities.
- Maintain and properly care for tools and equipment.
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and install building materials.
- Follow manufacturer instructions and accepted construction practices.
The Carpenter will coordinate daily activities with VA personnel while remaining under the supervision and management of GD Resources LLC.
Responsibilities include:
- Reporting daily to the VA Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) for work assignments.
- Coordinating tasks and schedules with facility representatives.
- Communicating work progress and completion status.
- Following assigned priorities based on facility needs.
- Maintaining professional communication with Government personnel.
At the conclusion of each shift, the Carpenter shall provide the COR with updates regarding:
- Specific tasks completed.
- Maintenance, repair, or construction activities performed.
- Exact location of work completed.
- Materials or components replaced, when applicable.
- Items requiring additional attention.
- Name(s) of personnel performing the work.
Work Schedule
The standard work schedule is:
- Monday through Friday
- 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
- Approximately 80 hours per pay period

Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must possess:
- Demonstrated professional carpentry experience.
- Knowledge of commercial, institutional, or healthcare facility construction practices.
- Experience performing rough and finish carpentry.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and work instructions.
- Knowledge of building materials, installation methods, and finishing techniques.
- Ability to safely operate carpentry hand tools and power tools.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
Personnel performing work under this contract must demonstrate competency in:
- Rough carpentry.
- Finish carpentry.
- Drywall installation and repair.
- Door and window installation.
- Ceiling installation.
- Flooring installation.
- Cabinet and shelving construction.
- Furniture fabrication.
- Laminate and Formica installation.
- Building repairs and modifications.
- Safe operation of tools and equipment.
Safety Requirements
Carpenters must comply with:

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Carpenters are required to wear appropriate PPE, including:
- Arc-rated or natural fiber long-sleeve shirts and long pants.
- OSHA-approved steel-toe work boots.
- Hearing protection.
- Eye protection.
- Additional PPE required for specific tasks.
Before beginning work, selected personnel will complete required VA onboarding activities, including:
- Facility safety training.
- Basic VA orientation.
- Site-specific procedures.
- Additional training required by the medical center.
This position requires the ability to:
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work for extended periods.
- Lift and carry construction materials, tools, and equipment.
- Operate hand tools and power equipment.
- Work from ladders, lifts, and elevated surfaces.
- Work in confined areas and active healthcare environments.
