Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift assignment requiring VA or compact RN license, BLS, and 2 years of experience.

Details

• 36-bed telemetry/surgical floor
• Night shift, 4x12 hours, 19:00-7:00
• 1:6 patient ratio
• Uses Epic EMR
• Floating may be requested based on facility needs
• Local candidates accepted at the same base rate

Requirements

• Active RN license (VA state or compact) required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS certification required through the American Heart Association (AHA)
• ACLS and NIHSS certifications preferred
• 2 years of RN experience required, including specialty experience within the last year
• Epic charting experience required
• NIH Stroke Scale and stroke education required
• 1 year of charge nurse experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Skills required: IV therapy/phlebotomy, central line and PICC line management, peripheral line care, starting and maintaining IVs, respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP and oxygen administration, colostomy/ileostomy care, CVA management, medication administration (Heparin, Insulin, PCA), isolation precautions/PPE, and telemetry monitoring
• Preferred skills: accessing/managing ports, blood product administration, chest tube management, feeding tube care, wound care/wound vac, pre/post hemodialysis management, and renal failure care

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a combined medical/surgical and telemetry unit
• Perform continuous cardiac monitoring and respond to emergencies as needed
• Prior permanent employees must have a 6-month gap before returning as a travel candidate
• RTO should be minimal, with no more than 7 days total requested and no calendar week off during the assignment
• All RTO requests must be submitted with the initial application and confirmed prior to offer
• Travel experience is not required, making this role open to first-time travelers
