Endoscopy Triage Nurse Faulkner

Schedule: Weekdays, 9‑hour shifts. No nights, weekends, or holidays. The Registered Nurse is a professional nurse registered in Massachusetts responsible for planning and providing patient care for assigned patients according to Nursing Standards of Care as outlined in the Nursing Department's Clinical Practice Manual. The nurse demonstrates initiative, knowledge, and clinical skills in caring for patients with complex needs, and manages patients by assuming full responsibility for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care. The role directly reports to a designated nurse manager or supervisor, and strives to practice the Patient and Family Centered Care Model in an environment that exemplifies best practice. The Triage Nurse plays a key leadership role in supporting the endoscopy center to optimize patient throughput. This position is approximately 90% triage‑based—providing phone triage, in‑basket messaging, and on‑demand patient communication for upcoming procedures—and 10% on‑site at our Endoscopy location for patient‑facing or hands‑on clinical support as needed. The Triage RN manages patient interactions via telephone and electronic messaging, offering clinical advice in accordance with established protocols and ensuring appropriate care coordination for pre‑procedural and post‑procedural concerns. Responsibilities Triage clinical questions and concerns received via telephone calls and in‑basket messaging. Provide clinical guidance, education, and support to patients based on assessment findings and established evidence‑based protocols. Coordinate patient care by collaborating with the scheduling team to ensure appropriate booking and preparation for endoscopic procedures. Partner with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary team members to promote seamless communication and continuity of care. Participate in the development and implementation of individualized care plans to optimize patient outcomes and procedural readiness. Maintain thorough and timely documentation of patient encounters and communications in accordance with institutional and regulatory standards. Education Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required. Licenses and Credentials Massachusetts Registered Nurse License required. BLS and ACLS required. Experience Minimum of 2 years of recent clinical endoscopy experience required (within the last 2 years). Prior experience performing triage in the endoscopy setting or pre‑procedure evaluation clinic preferred. Proven charge nurse or resource nurse experience in an Endoscopy setting within the last 6 months preferred. Demonstrated ability to develop and refine workflows to maintain alignment with evolving MGB models and best practices. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Adheres to all C.A.R.E. standards. Demonstrates basic analytic thinking necessary to care for a group of patients. Possesses observational skills and the ability to set priorities. Functions under stress with strong interpersonal and communication skills. Applies hospital standards in areas of service, teamwork, communication, respect for others, and time/priority management.
