Meeting Street is currently looking for a Library Media Teacher for 40 hours per week.

Duties:

• Teaches grade and age-appropriate reading research and media skills in conjunction with students voice and choice in learning to address real-world issues and activities.
• Develops lesson plans and instructional materials that consistently contain diverse content and genres throughout the academic year
• Provides a variety of learning experiences so that students demonstrate skills and concepts such as information literacy digital citizenship online research and evaluating sources learned through individual and group performance
• Cooperates and networks with other libraries librarians media specialists and agencies to provide access to resources outside the school.
• Models effective strategies for developing multiple literacies.
• Provides guidance in software and hardware evaluation.
• Understands copyright fair use and licensing of intellectual property regulations and assists others with their understanding and observance of the same.
• Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities during the school day
• Provides a nurturing supportive and positive classroom environment that encourages student responsibility using positive motivation clear classroom routines challenging instructional strategies and effective classroom management techniques.

Requirements

• Bachelors Degree with valid school librarian/media certification from RIDE or the ability to obtain
• Work environment and physical requirements consistent with those of a typical school environment
• Ability to move about the classroom and building continuously throughout the workday
• Utilize the computer (20%) of the time and other office equipment
