Project Manager-Mining

Opportunity We are seeking an Arizona‑based Project Manager for the Mining, Minerals & Metals Business Line. In this role you will learn and apply Stantec’s project delivery practices, build strong client and technical relationships, and deliver projects with safety and quality in mind. You will manage complex projects, align strategy with client needs, and contribute to our mission of delivering cutting‑edge mining solutions. Key Responsibilities Demonstrate a competent understanding of Project Management Fundamentals, including the relationship between scope, cost and schedule. Learn and comply with Stantec’s Project Management Framework based on PMI concepts. Manage large, multi‑disciplinary engineering and feasibility studies; develop budgets, define scope, set schedules, process paperwork, and interact with clients. Interface with Stantec Leadership to secure appropriate resources, including technical and management support. Implement Stantec’s Quality Program in partnership with Leadership to ensure highest delivery standards. Identify and resolve execution gaps; recommend process, policy and procedure improvements. Support Leadership in recruitment, succession planning and coaching/mentoring of Project Managers and project leaders. Drive client satisfaction, lead application of corporate standards, demonstrate business awareness and acumen. Follow risk management practices, develop risk profiles and registers, prepare for internal risk reviews. Achieve utilization targets (60‑80% billable time). Mentor and develop junior staff. Maintain and enhance Stantec’s reputation with clients, approval agencies and industry professionals. Qualifications Project Management Mastery Develop and manage project scopes related to mining. Expertise in scheduling, controls, and document management. Knowledge of risk assessment frameworks. Identify deviations and implement corrective actions. Strategic Leadership & Execution Drive project success through process optimization and continuous improvement. Strong organizational and problem‑solving skills for complex challenges. Lead diverse, multi‑disciplinary teams across global regions. Industry Knowledge & Technical Expertise Experience in industrial and mining projects, with financial and operational insights. Familiarity with contract structures, pricing models and resource allocation. Strong QA/QC expertise. Health & Safety commitment and implementation of client H&S protocols. Client & Stakeholder Engagement Excellent verbal and written communication to foster strong client relationships. Champion customer service excellence. Adaptability & Influence Versatile and flexible in changing environments. Drive organizational change through influence and leadership. Willingness to travel for project execution and client engagements. Education and Experience 10+ years in mining or industrial projects; experience in mine planning, resource management, and consulting preferred. Bachelor’s degree in mining, civil, geotechnical engineering, or geoscience. PMP certification preferred. 5‑10+ years managing medium‑to‑large‑scale projects. Proven ability to enhance operations and improve cost efficiency.
