Production Operator - Night Shift (4:30 pm - 3:30 am)

Position Summary

We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused Production Operator to support daily operations within our steel coil processing facility. This position plays a vital role in maintaining efficient production by assisting with machine operation, equipment setup, material handling, quality verification, and general production support. The ideal candidate enjoys working in a fast-paced industrial environment, takes pride in producing quality work, and is committed to working safely as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the operation of slitting lines and other steel coil processing equipment.
• Support machine setup activities, including slitter head changes and tooling preparation under the direction of experienced operators.
• Assist with loading, staging, and moving steel coils and processed material using overhead cranes, forklifts, or other material handling equipment (training provided as required).
• Monitor production processes and report equipment issues, quality concerns, or safety hazards to leadership.
• Perform routine housekeeping and maintain an organized work area following 5S standards.
• Support preventive maintenance activities and basic equipment inspections.
• Conduct basic quality inspections to verify product meets customer specifications.
• Read and follow work orders, production schedules, and operating procedures.
• Move between production areas as needed to support operational demands.
• Follow all company safety policies and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
• Work collaboratively with operators, maintenance personnel, supervisors, and fellow team members to achieve production goals.

Qualifications

• Previous manufacturing, steel processing, or industrial experience preferred but not required.
• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn machine setup, operation, and troubleshooting.
• Ability to follow detailed work instructions and maintain attention to quality.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to workplace safety.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
• Willingness to work overtime and flexible schedules as production demands require.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs independently on a routine basis and handle materials safely as part of daily job duties.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and maintain safe body positioning while performing tasks and moving through the work area, including walking on concrete floors and uneven surfaces.
• Frequent squatting, bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting, requiring full-body mobility, balance, and upper- and lower-body strength to perform work safely.
• Manual agility to operate tools safely and effectively, with regular use of arms, shoulders, and back for lifting, reaching, and positioning tasks.
• Ability to work safely in a warehouse environment with exposure to noise, dust, moving equipment, and varying temperatures.
• Maintain adequate visual and auditory acuity to safely perform assigned tasks, including but not limited to: identifying potential hazards, reading and/or recording measurements, inspecting materials, and responding promptly to verbal instructions, alarms or hand signals in the work environment

• Criminal background check: reviewed in accordance with job duties, the nature and gravity of any convictions, and the time elapsed since the offense or sentence completion.
• Pre-hire drug screening: candidates must pass a drug screen to be eligible for hire.
• Physical assessment: required for all Production and Distribution positions, conducted by a company-designated physician at no cost to the candidate.
