Inpatient CDI Specialist

Seeking an experienced Inpatient Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) Specialist to join our growing team. This is a high-impact role working directly with hospital leadership, physicians, and coding teams to drive documentation accuracy, optimize DRG performance, and improve overall quality of care. What You’ll Do Perform concurrent and retrospective reviews of inpatient records to ensure accurate clinical documentation Issue compliant physician queries to clarify diagnoses, procedures, SOI/ROM, and quality indicators Partner with coding and HIM teams to resolve DRG discrepancies and documentation gaps Provide clinical validation support and ensure alignment with ICD-10-CM/PCS and regulatory guidelines Deliver education and feedback to physicians, leadership, and clinical teams Analyze trends and report on CDI impact across facilities What We’re Looking For 3+ years of inpatient CDI experience in a hospital setting Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, MS-DRG, and APR-DRG methodologies Experience with AHIMA query guidelines and regulatory compliance Certification required: CCDS, CDIP, CCS, RHIT, or RHIA RN or clinical background strongly preferred Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with physicians and leadership Flexible work model ( remote and/or travel depending on assignment ) Opportunity to work with leading hospitals and healthcare systems Why This Role?
