Job Summary

Pittsburgh, PA | Sewickley

Start Date: As soon as they find their person

Hours: Monday-Friday, 9 am - 3 pm; Thursdays 6 am - 12 pm; Guaranteed 30 hours/week

Hourly Rate: $27-35

Children: 9-month-old

Pets: 1 dog

Paid Vacation:

WHO/WHAT: This is a family that likes their people close—and we mean that quite literally. Grandma and Grandpa live one block away. There’s already a pretty wonderful little village surrounding this happy, social little guy, and his parents are looking for one more person to join it: a warm, playful nanny who will love him well, make his days fun, and eventually feel less like someone who comes to work and more like someone everyone is genuinely happy to see walk through the door.

Their little guy is at that wonderfully busy baby stage where sitting still is becoming increasingly overrated. He’s happy, social, and absolutely loves being around people and other babies. He recently started standing and would very much like everyone to understand that walking while holding your hands is now an acceptable form of transportation. He’ll happily play independently too, loves music, and is generally pretty delighted to have someone nearby to interact with.

His parents would love a nanny who sees all of that curiosity and runs with it. Read books. Turn on music and have a kitchen dance party. Get on the floor and play. Go for walks. Find a library story time. Meet another nanny and baby for a playdate. Get outside. Head to the pool. Introduce him to new places, people, and experiences as he grows. This family likes having enough of a schedule to keep everyone functioning, but they aren't interested in scheduling every minute of childhood. If naps are on track and everyone is happy and you suddenly decide it’s a beautiful morning for an adventure, go have one.

Mom is very much a people person. She’s social, creative, relational, and the kind of person who invests deeply in the people she cares about. Dad works from home, and together they describe their household as pretty relaxed. They are looking for a nanny who understands that sometimes loving a family well looks like noticing the bottles need washing before someone asks. You’ll help with children’s laundry, some parent laundry, bottles, vacuuming, keeping his spaces organized, making his meals as he grows, keeping an eye on baby supplies, occasional errands, and the everyday tidying that prevents a household with a baby from looking quite as much like a household with a baby. In other words, if you notice they're down to the last three diapers, tell someone before diaper number three. If the baby is happily sleeping and there's a load of laundry ready to switch, switch it. If toys have somehow migrated into every room of the house, help them find their way home. Mom carries much of the family planning and logistics, so having another capable adult around who can notice, anticipate, and take a few things off her plate would mean a lot. With Dad typically home during the day, you won't be responsible for significant pet care. An occasional trip outside or refill of the water bowl is about the extent of your dog-related job description. Being comfortable with a very friendly Golden Retriever, however, is non-negotiable.

The family knows they need a nanny for at least the next six months, but they’re very open to something much longer with the right person. They aren't looking for someone who simply checks the boxes and gets through the day. They want someone they trust. Someone who communicates. Someone who loves their little guy enough to learn his quirks, celebrate his milestones, know which song currently gets the biggest smile, and become another safe person in his world.

THE IDEAL NANNY IS… SOMEONE WHO JUST FITS. You're warm, nurturing, playful, and relational, but you also have the common sense and reliability that make parents exhale when you walk through the door. You communicate. You notice things. You have experience with babies and understand that development happens through ordinary moments. You'll happily read the same book twelve times, encourage those wobbly first steps, pack up for an outing, or sit on the floor and let a baby hand you the same toy approximately 37 times.

You're also someone who understands the difference between being helpful and needing to be managed. You don't need a detailed list explaining that the empty water bowl should probably have water in it or that the laundry sitting in the dryer is ready to be folded. You have initiative, organization, patience, and really good judgment. Most importantly, you genuinely enjoy building relationships with the families you work for. Because Grandma and Grandpa may already have the one-block commute covered, but there’s still room in this village for one more really wonderful person.

Requirements and Benefits

• Nanny MUST have previous nanny experience for a minimum of 2 years.
